A few years ago I made my last piece of dance in North Carolina, it was a great undertaking, and I had wonderful women to assist me with the project. I created an evening around three women, characters from "The House of the Spirits" by Isabelle Allende. We worked deeply and passionately to embody qualities rather than just dancing steps. We wove a story of generations of women through our bodies, the medium that comes most easily to me as an artist.
In this strange time of my life right now, upside down and inside out, I come across Isabelle Allende again, in a more personal way. Listen to her speech, the full 17 minutes. We too can claim the warrior heart, in fact we must. Life demands it. In love,
